Forder Elementary

Mission Statement
The Mission of Forder Elementary School is to provide an education based on quality and equity and equality, an education that is devoted to high achievement in the midst of high expectations, an education that promotes personal respect and responsibility, an education that is both safe and child-centered, an education that counts on-and encourages and anticipates-the involvement of the community, our families, and our staff, and an education that reinforces the belief that active readers become life-long learners.

Building and Facilities
Forder was originally built in the 1930s but has been enlarged several times since then to keep up with an expanding enrollment. The building was completely renovated in 1995, becoming a modern educational facility with air-conditioning. The school is completely handicapped-accessible by elevator.

In May 2017, Forder was awarded a $50,000 grant through Innovative Technology Education Foundation (ITEF). This project uses field missions to excite, inform, and ignite intellectual curiosity and includes students family and community. Through this grant opportunity the Forder students and staff will be able to visit The Challenger Learning Center and also have access to two Google Chrome Book charts, which is in addition to the chrome books we already have at Forder. Computers are used throughout the school. There are now at least 4 student computers in grade 2-5 and iPads in grade k-1, along with one teacher computer in every classroom. We also have computers in the school office, the cafeteria, the health room and the library for book check-out. The students use the computers for the Scholastic Reading Counts Program, the Scholastic Reading Inventory Program, Front-Row, as well as opportunities for STEM and coding.  They can also access the library online catalog from their rooms. Every computer has Internet access, World Book On-Line, Microsoft Office, and many other programs.
