Literacy Curriculum
The Mehlville School District utilizes the Lucy Calkins reading, writing, and phonics programs. During the reading and writing workshop time students experience conferring, guided reading/writing, strategy groups, along with independent reading/writing. Students also participate in word study, shared reading and read aloud throughout their school day.

Reading Specialists
Forder is a Title 1 school and has three reading teachers who serve students who qualify for remedial reading services.

Math Curriculum
The Mehlville School District utilizes the Ready Math program for mathematics. The Ready Mathematics program helps address the emphasis on conceptual understanding through reasoning, modeling, and discussion that explore the structure of mathematics while also developing students' procedural fluency. The lessons in Ready Mathematics use a research-based, proven-effective, gradual-release instructional model with a balance of conceptual understanding and procedural fluency to build confidence and mastery of the math standards. Mehlville is also committed to professional development on the implementation of the mathematical practices.

Special Education
Mehlville School District partners with Special School District to provide special education services. Forder has two full-time resource teachers, one speech/language pathologist, as well as occupational and physical therapy services. Along with adaptive physical education services, hearing/vision itinerant services and music therapy are provided as indicated on an Individualized Education Plan. English Language Learners
Forder has two English Language teachers serving students who speak a second language.

STRETCH Gifted Program
Mehlville School District offers the STRETCH program for intellectually advanced students who qualified for gifted services. Learn more about STRETCH.
